CAN MEN AND WOMEN BE FRİENDS ?

    Hi there!

   

    I am here with my last video comment. It is about the article “Can Men and Women be Friends?” The reason why I chose this this video is that in this video presenters says that one of the famous cross-sex friends look like more than friends in a picture and after this male presenter says that there is a research in the America about being cross-sex friends and according to this research, men and women cannot be friends, but they do not think so. They have two guests in their shows. One of them believes that men and women cannot be friends while the other one is saying men and women can be friends. Both guests get it off their chests in the show. Male presenter states that he has two close friends who are the members of the opposite sex since his college years and he says that “I am a hope for you America”. At the end of the show they represent some results of the questionnaire which is made online. According this questionnaire %76 of people think that men and women can be friends. If I attended this questionnaire, my vote would be for ''they can'' because in my opinion we are human before being women or being men. Although having differences between us, still we can be friends because we are the parts of this world together and nothing can be an obstacle to be friends.

                          SHOW ME THE WAY TO GO HOME

      Hi my friend!  This is my second  multi-media comment. It is related to young adults who go on  staying with their parents.  Today's world there are many young adults who like living with their parents.  Economical aspects are the most important reasons why they chose this kind of life. When they chose live with their families at home, they do not have to worry about the utility bills, rent , general shopping each month any more because their parents care about every thing instead of them. In this way, these young adults can save money easily.  Moral support is the second reason for young adults to keep staying with their parents. Parents provide moral support for their children. When children grow up and become adults, they still feel that they lose in the society without the moral support of their family.  Moreover; parents always protect their children against every possible danger. Children are used to this protection and feel themselves safe with their families. For this reason, the protection of the family is our third reason for adults and their newly adopted life style. This is a mutualism from a different viewpoint. Parents feel very happy because they think that they can please their children in regardless of their ages. Beside that, children like the values of their families very much. The both sides of the relationdhip is happy about this. As said in this video, parents embrace their children all the time and young adults are not embarrassed beacuse this kind of life because ;indeed, no matter how old you are living with your family is a breath of a fresh air.

POWER PHRASES

      Hello my friends !!

      I m here for my first video comment. It is about Power Phrases. Firstly, I need to remember what Power Phrases are.  All  people need to be respected by their families, children, friends. However; while some people can earn this respect easily, some people have difficult time in that matter. These people generally can not make their words be listened or even heard. They are unable to understand what it is wrong with them.  How can their ideas/ words be so unimportant whereas the others are so significiant? The answer is hidden  in this video. People who can earn respect easily and make their words/ideas be heard use Power Phrases.  Power Phrases are short but powerful expressions. I mean that If we want to say that we are worry about something related to our friend we sould say this directly but tenderly. We should not palter. Saying many words do not  give us respect but cause to lose it. We should be clear, plain as possible as. We  give up impling something. If we want something we should say ' I want it. ' Another important matter is that while using Power Phrases we should support our words by our actions. If we fail to support our actions, we naturally lose respect. In this situaton, we should not wait any respect from the people in our environment. All this that I talk about above are told in this short video. 

      Let's use Power Phrases for a more beautiful life :)

                            Can Men and Women be Friends?

Have you heard about being cross-sex friend? I seem to hear that you are saying that it cannot be possible, but if I say to you it is possible, it would be shocking, wouldn’t it? The writer in the article “Can Men and Women be Friends?“ mentions about some researches and s/he benefits from experts opinions. For example; one of the experts in the article says that “ women and men can’t be friends comes from another area in which women were at home and men were in the workplace, and the only way they could get together was for romance”. In other words, men and women relationship are different from what it is used to. Today’s world we live this life together no matter which life area this is because we work together, we have sports interests together and socialize together. Moreover; another expert in the article, Don O’Meara, has a good cross-sex friendship and he decided doing research to figure out if there is any other good cross-sex friendships. According to his research to understand whether you are a friend with a member of the opposite sex or not, you have to follow five steps. First of all, you should decide you are friends or lovers? I mean you want this people, but in what way? He state that “you know you love someone and enjoy them as a person, but not enough to date or merry them”. There is a very thin line between them and you have to separate them. The second step is that if you overcome attraction, you can become friend. You should disregard sexual attraction. The third step is that you see your friend equal with you. You should not think that your gender is chosen one, your gender is just a gender not more than it. The fourth step is that you have to deal with doubters. Almost wherever you go you will be welcomed with doubt by other people. They will always ask are you just friends? Because they do not have you point of view on this issue. Finally, it is important where do you meet with you cross-sex friend. When you go a place what is your purpose. After these five steps you can be sure whether you are friend or not. I think being friend more important than dearness. You can find somebody to be in relationship but a friend can be priceless for you and if it is cross-sex friendship, it can be improve your thoughts.

SHOW ME THE WAY TO GO HOME

Nowadays, there are so many young adults staying with their families. According to recent researches; today 59% of men and 47% of women stay with their families or depend on them. The writer of this article '' Show Me The Way To Go Home '' clarifies the reasons why young adults go on staying with their families. First of all; the main reason is economic. To achieve their aims young adults need earn money 70. For this reason; they need save money and decide staying with their families. As a result of this, they can achieve their aims in terms of economically because they do not have to pay for rent, grocery shopping, utility bill each month thus save money easily. For example ; the writer mentions Sallie Knighton in her article. Sallie moved back to her parent's house to save money to buy a car. She could not afford  for a car If she had not stayed with her parents as a teacher.158 Secondly, today's world moral support is the other reason for young adults in this matter. They are supported in terms of moral support by their parents for years. When they begin live separated from their families, they think that they lose this support forever and come down in the world. 208 The third reason is the  security. Young  adults are always in safe with their parents. They aware that whatever they do wrong, their families protect them against every danger. In one sense; this is mutualism. Young adults are happy about the protection and parents are happy because they can show their deep love for their children by protecting them.

POWER PHRASES 

     Sometimes we search for answers why people ignore us and we can not make ourselves heard by others. It is very weird that some people are very successful about this matter. Whatever they say become   immediately new and very important. How can these people achieve catching on with others? Indeed; the answer is very clear. They are heard, listened by others and earn respect because they use Power Phrases.

    What are these Power Phrases? How can we use these  Power Phrases in our daily lives? The writer explains us these Power Phrases in this article. We can say that Power Phrases are keys to earn respect. All people want to be important for others . They need to be heard and listened. By using Power Phrases we can have achieve the objectives. Besides that, the writer explains us how we can use this Power Phrases in our every day lives. Power Phrases are short but strong expresssions. In addition, these words and phrases should be supported by our actions. The writer warns us about this matter. If we do not support our words or phrases by actions, they lose their impacts on other people and we can not earn any respect. For example; If we can not wait for our friends for half an hour in a cafe, we should not wait for them for hours. Another example is that If we feel uncomfortable when our friends smoke at home we should say this directly but tenderly. After saying that '' I m okey'' then acting uncomfortably do not support our actions and cause lose respect in the eyes of other people. Moreover; We should not say '' your bed is a mess ''. Instead of this; we should say that '' tidy your bed''. We give up imply something. We should say directly what  we want to say and use Power Phrases while saying it. This helps us earn respect. 

    As we can see in the article; the writer gives us several examples related to the results of using Power Phrases. People using this kinds of words and phrases have much self-confidence. They feel that their families, friends, children have respect for himself/herself. Then, let's use Power Phrases :)

ALBERT CAMUS

Albert Camus was born in 1913 and died in 1960. He was a French author who won Nobel Prize in 1957, journalist, and philosopher. He studied at the University of Algiers. At the same time Albert was the goalkeeper of the university team and he continued to do this until he contracted tuberculosis in 1931. From time to time, he had to give up his responsibilities and just rest at his home because of his illness. Finally, he closed his eyes to life as a result of a traffic accident. Italy was the most beautiful country for Camus. He says for Italy " the country created for my own heart .."

     Albert Camus is one of my favorite authors. Last summer,  I read a few of his books for the first time. At the begining, I had hard times to understand his aim to write ;then, I read, I began to understand him very well. I have read his ' YABANCI' , 'MUTLU ÖLÜM', 'TERSİ VE YÜZÜ' so far. His aim is not to be happy any longer; he just wants to be aware of his environment, his world.. He says that life is very short and wasting your time is a kind of sin.. There is no limit to love. Embrace everything whatever you see whatever you believe whatever you feel... Life is simple. It is human to make complicated everything.. Feeling sorry for the mother..Is it love to her ?.. No one will want to listen you any longer. It will be the terrible truth when you get older .. You will be convicted to solitude and silence.. Man is the only creature to refuse what he is.. The coming of the disease is all of a sudden, yet to going of it needs time..  He has a different , orijinal idea about life, love, isolitude, oldness almost every topic. The most important one was he looked at life from different perspectives..

ICE AGE

      Ice Age  is a kind of American computer-animated comedy-drama adventure film. Carlos Saldanha and Chris Wedge are directors of this film. Ice Age was nominated at 75th Academy  Rewards for best animated feature.

    Ice Age is a series consisting of three sequels: Ice Age: The Meltdown , Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Ice Age: Continental Drift. The film begins with a squirrel known as Scrat who is trying to find a place to store his food. In the end, he finds a place for his food but causes to several cracks on ice and he ends up in a herd of prehistorical animals. These animals are aware of the danger coming with the increasing temperature and decide to migrate south except for Manfred, an mammoth who is heading in north. Another character in the film is Sid. He is a clumsy sloth and his family leave behind him. For this reason he stands alone. Fortunately, he runs across our huge character ,Mandred, and continues his migration safely. During the migration, they have many adventures. Sid is always clumsy and he is in trouble most of the time. If he is not in danger, it is  almost certain that our mammoth Madred has saved  him. The struggles of squirrel Scrat to fine a safe place for his food produce so many funny scenes for spectators.  The Mammoth is always stubborn to stay north ignoring the melting ice. However, his friends  convince him about the migration to south with them. Their adventurous journals to south last for three sequels. Each of them is full of enjoyable dialogs. Besides, this dialogs are one of the reasons why I like watching this animation. As far as I'm concerned, all characters especially Sid are very succesful in making  spectators laugh during the all three films. I like almost all animations but I can recommend you watch especially Ice Age to have a rare old time :)

THE KITE RUNNER

   

   

      The Kite Runner is a novel by Khaled Hosseini. It was published in 2003 and it is Hosseini's first novel. The Kite Runner was adapted into a film of the same name in 2007. 

         The Kite Runner tells the story of Amir who is a young boy from Kabul-the largest city of Afghanistan. Amir has a  close friend named Hassan and Hassan's father is their Hazara servant. This story forms not only friendship, brotherhood, love but also shines light on the history of Afghanistan and the rise of Taliban regime. It gives a lot of information about how Taliban overthrowed the former goverment and formed his own goverment, the  terrible times the Afghan people had in that time, and of course, how Amir, Hassan,his father affected from this situation.

           The Kite Runner is one of the my favorite books due to not only its topic but also the author's style used in this novel. Everything in novel can be understood easily thanks to the author's style. The author tells the story intriguingly. When I read, I want read more. I was always curious about the next event which Amir or Hassan had. Although The Kite Runner is the first novel of Khaled Hosseini, he is very successful in making up a story  and telling excellently.For instance ; I was always curious about how Amir would learn that Hassan and himself were brothers, who would tell him and when? . These questions always kept me on tenterhooks. I waited for the answers till the end of the novel. The answers were hidden in the last page of the novel and even the last a few lines.  Indeed; these last lines seems us as an end,yet it is a begining of different lives for Hassan and Amir. It is like the begining of a new story. Probably other boys from Afghanistan, probably brothers- sisters, new lives and new stories..

                          HOMESCHOOLING VS. PUCLIC SCHOOL



 Homeschooling or public school .. ? Which one is better .. ? This questions preposses people's minds for a along time. People can not decide about which one is better before thinking for a time. Then, let's see pros and cons of  homeschooling and public schools.

                                          Homeschooling Pros

• Homeschooling gives children more freedom about their education. Children search and learn whatever they want.

• In homeschooling, there are not  many time-consuming things sucs as school timing, exams, quizs etc.

• In home schooling, children also have emotional freedom. They do not have to can stand the pressure of peer grups, meaningless competition. They can study in peace.

•  Home schooling also beneficial for families about teaching their religions to their children.

                                         Homeschooling Cons

•  Homeschooling requires at least one parent  to be at home full-time. This could be financial problems in the family. The income of the family may  reduce.

• The amount of noise and disturbance may be cons of homeschooling. Noise and disturbance may break the concentration of children who are trying to study at home.

• It have to be accepted that homeschooling is an oddity and may cause some troubles about getting friends in close neigbourhood while other children go to a public school. As a possible result of this stiation, children feel lonely and isaloted and their psychology may be effected badly.

• If children spend most of their time at home, they can not attend team games. They may be not welcomed in public schools. For this reason, parents may have to arrange several team games for their children.

                                            Public Pros

  

• Public schools provide children with creative activities like theater, bands and so on. Participating this type of activities is much more easy in public schools.

• More resources to search and opportinies are avaible for children who go to public schools.

• Children in public schools also have an opprtunity to get to know different types of people which means children are prepared to face the real world in public schools.

• Apart from the class teacher, there are many teachers to teach many different subjects such as arts, music to keep up children's interest.

                                          Public Cons

• The teaching activities are done at mid-learners level. So, advanced learners may get bored in the meantime.

• Some students are quite smart but quiet. Because of the lack of individual attention, these gifted children may get lost in the crowd.

• Some children are tend to be effected from their friends and get some wrong behavior. Moreover ; ıf they are scolded, they rebel and follow their wrong behavior for a long time even forever.

• Sometimes children deal with several problems sucs as anger managements but they do not get help from school authorities. As a result of this, the matters get worse and children may take wrong steps.

       And in conclusion.. What is your decision ? Which one is better for you ?  :)

BEING A STUDENT AT METU 

When I was in high school, I didn't like METU  and Ankara at all. There was just one option for me: BOSPHORUS UNIVERSITY. I strongly thouht that METU was not appropriate for me. Furthermore, Ankara was not the most ideal of cities for me to live in and continue my education becuse of my its harsh weather conditions. However; as I stepped into METU, my thouhts about METU  and Ankara changed completely. I  now no longer think that I would  regret choosing METU for my education and future.  After  a few days I came to METU, I understood my prejudgments about it were very wrong and nonsensial. I would like to explain this with some examples. Firstly, I am happy to be a student at METU because of the great respect students get here. At the campus,regardless of what position someone is holding and how old they are, everybody is respectful to students. So far, I have never come across any disrespecful behaviour from anyone. Whenever I ask a question to somebody, she /he gives me not only the answer to the question but also some other information about METU  like the location of building , dormitory and so on. Everybody at METU is friendly and very helpful. Apart from these beautiful nature of the peope here, METU also has a splendid campus. It is almost full of trees. Everywhere is green and I can even see  species of birds that I have never seen before. One small problem though is the problem of transportation. Going from  one place to another is sometimes very difficult. More often  than not,  the buses in campus are full. That is why, from time to time, we have to walk to whenever we want to go. Walking can be time consuming and very exhausting given the large METU campus. My other problem at METU  is to find places. At first,all of the places looked the same to me. I got lost many times and have to walk for hours .However, now I'm getting used to this. To sum up, I think being a student at METU , so far, has been superb. And I'm sure that ıt will be the same for the next four years. I'm happy at METU.

 MY IDEAL UNIVERSITY 

"How is an ideal university like to me?". This is one of the questions that I want to answer. According to my criteria, an ideal universty should provide a wealth of amenities for students including sports halls, recreational areas, proper campus transportation and so on. This is to give students the convenience of using them. Moreover, they should be free so that student can benefit from these facilities suficiently. I think  preparing us for the exam or helping us to get a job should not be the only goal of an ideal university. Other than these aims, an ieal university should make us think powerfully. After our education at the university, we should gain the ability to analyze and to produce new and different ideas. An ideal university should not teach us how we should choose one option over the rest as in exams. Rather, it should teach us life lessons in helping us deal with choices in the future. In short, it should prepare us for the "real life". The next question is whether or not METU is an ideal university. I can say so many things about this topic. Yes, METU is an ideal university. According to my own observations, teachers at METU want to teach us "how we can learn what we need". In other words, we can call that "learn how to learn". We are taught to find the information ourselves, think about issues, search for them, instead of just merely copy and paste what we find. In fact, these skills are what we need to change some things and develop our talents. I have been at METU just for a month, but I think METU's aim is not about teaching us to choose between options in an exam. Rather, its aim is developing the character of its students so that they are ready to face the world next time. The aims of METU complies with my criteria of an ideal university. As I embark on my journal as a METU student ,  I hope growing into a strong individual with qualities that METU would instill in me to face the chalenges of the world at the end of my university years.

A DEVİCE TO LEARN ENGLİSH

   A DEVICE TO PROMOTE LEARNING ENGLISH

   Learning a new foreign language can be compelling for many people.While people try to learn a new language,some problems appaer.I think,most probable one is memorizing words since there are a lot of words which should be memorized.However, of course memorizing all ofthem is impossible.So people need a device or program that will solve these problems.
   On the market there are lots of online programs which translate words;but they aren't useful for us.As  programs don't have ability of comment; when we want to translate a sentence or a figurative word, they can't translate words or they translate words  absurdly.So I designed a program to solve this problem.
   This program can be used by people of all ages wanting to learn a new language.As I said before it will be an online program. By using this program, we will translate sentences or figurative words properly,beause; when we write the word which will be translated, it will be translated by people who were chosen especially for this job.When we write the sentences or words on computer or mobile phones vie this online program,they will translate them immediately and tell us.In other words,we will hear pronunciation of the word from people working at translation centres.These are advantages of the program.
   Although the program is very useful, there may be some disadvantages of it. To illustrate, when there are plenty of people using this program at the same time, it takes some time learning the translation of word.However, this problem can be solved by increasing the number of the people working at translation centres.Firstly,translation centres should be established and people should be employed especially for this job to using this program effectively.
   As we need manpower for it, using this program will be costly.
   To sum up, laerning a new language will be so easy due to this program.I recommend you to use it.  :)

                          NORTHERN LIGHTS 

           In this video; we can clearly see the Northern Lights.They are colorful but generally green.Except for green, these lights can be  seen as pink, blue, rarely purple.We can see all of these colors.

            Northern Lights are seen between 60 and 72 degrees north and south latitudes.That is why  this video was recorded in a place close to the polars.What is more; it was recorded the lights not only during daytime but also nights.As a result of this; we can see Northern Lights in darkness and brightness.


                As we can see in the video; these kind  of lights move wavy.They  don't move flat.Instead they make some semi-circle movements.Sometimes they are brighter than  other times.

                               NEW BODY ART

         In this video; we can learn how body art can be made.Firstly, ı say something about what body art is.Body art is one of the latest fashions of summer.I can say that ıt ıs like tattoo some ways.However; body art painting is permanent.That is; you can have your body colored freely.

         As you can see in this video;some people prefer having body art just a part of their body such as their face, arms ,hands, shoulders while others prefer having all their bodies colored.What is more; we can see that special paints are used for body art.For example; blue color has many different tints to make colorful and good body painting.At the same time ;some colors are made by mixing other colors.

      

        Attention is maybe the most important thing in body art because sometimes  ıt can be difficult to fix  some mistakes related to wrong painting.As we can see in the video; although she may seem convenient, she is very careful for her every steps for painting half butterfly face.In the video,she made a mistake by putting white dots down wrong places on her face and she prefered not to clean them. Instead she made some changed in her image.

      This video is the trailer of Merlin,one of the most popular series today.Merlin consists of five seasons and in this series and and fifty episodes.

     We can see in this trailer that how and why Merlin came to Camelot. What is more; we already know that Merlin' s  destiny is to protect Arthur but as we see in the video they hate each other just as they come across for the first time. Then how wıll they become a part of  great friendship??

    The other thing we can see in the video,Arthur' s father is the king of Camelot and because of some reasons which we don't know what they are yet he has forbidden magic in the border of Camelot.However sometimes he can not prevent magic and some bad things happen.Some wizards try to kill Arthur to be immortal but they can not manage this.To protect Arthur is destiny of Merlin.

        Merlin is a British adventure television programme. It was broadcast on BBC One between 20 September 2008 and 24 December 2012. The show is  based on  the young wizard Merlin and his relationship with Prince Arthur but differs from traditional versions in many ways.

       After a number of unsuccessful attempts,the show was first successful  in 2006.In 2012, the show's produces declared that Merlin's last would be its fifth series and then it would finish on 24 December 2012.

        Merlin is a young wizard arriving in the kingdom of Camelot after that  his mother says him he can stay with court physician, Gaius.While Merlin stays with Gaius,he discovers that the king of Camelot, Uther Pendragon, has forbidden magic and imprisoned the last Great Dragon.Time to time the Dragon help Merlin to protect Arthur,Uther's son.Because that is the destiny of Merlin:to protect Arthur and help him to found a great kingdom.

  NORTHERN LIGHTS

       Northern Lights are natural lights display in the sky particularly in the high latitude regions.What is more,Northern Lights are known as Aurora.They are caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere.

    Northern Lights are generally observed at nights and happen ionosphere layer.In general,Auroras are seen between 60 and 72 degrees north and south latitudes.

       

      Auroras can be observed all over the world and on other planets. Further more; it was dark and the magnetic field ,become more visible closer  to the poles.

Green is the most prevalent  in all of the  auroras, and then pink, (a mixture of green and red), followed by pure red, yellow (a mixture of red and green), and finally the pure blue.

        The new body art is a new summer trendy. At first; people think that the model is wearing a vibrant  dress. In fact, it is not a dress. Everything people see is painted on to the model's skin.
